I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful three-day getaway at Casa dos Castelejos, nestled in the tranquil Alentejo region. The property, a magnificent manor enveloped by 480 hectares of untouched nature, offers an oasis of serenity that feels worlds apart from the hustle and bustle of everyday life; here, the sounds of nature harmoniously replace city noise. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the delightful staff, who made us feel instantly at home. The comfortable apartment we stayed in featured a lovely seating area with wooden-beamed ceilings and charming wooden decor, perfect for unwinding after our daily adventures exploring the picturesque surroundings, including local hiking trails that showcase the breathtaking landscapes and birdwatching opportunities. In the evenings, we savored regional Alentejo-style cuisine, enjoying a superb homemade dinner on the terrace; the freshness of the local ingredients truly shone through, and we couldn't resist indulging in a few glasses of the exquisite local wine. Casa dos Castelejos is a true testament to authenticity, reminding travelers like me of why we seek quiet escapes drenched in cultural richness.
